Invasive species center stage at Saugatuck event

Patty Birkholz, director of the Office of the Great Lakes, moderates a panel discussion on invasive fish and plant species at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5 at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts, 400 Culver St. Admission is free.

The presentation “Invasion! An Update on Asian Carp and Invasive Plants” is part of the About It! Series.

Kelly Smith, Department of Natural Resources Fisheries chief will give an update on the status of Asian carp in Michigan waterways.

Ray Fahlsing, manager of the DNR’s Parks and Recreation Stewardship Unit, will discuss the latest on invasive plants.
