In early July, Michigan Charter Boat Association representatives with other sport fishing groups to draft a letter to the MDNR fisheries regarding Chinook Salmon in Lake Michigan. In this letter we will request that no more Chinook Salmon cuts be made at this time until further assessment of Alewives to Salmon predator- prey ratio is reviewed this year.

Fishing groups that are signing on to this letter are as listed, Grand Traverse Sport Fishing Association , Manistee County Sport Fishing Association, Ludington Charter Boat Association, Manistee Area Charter Boats, members from the Grand Haven Charter Boat Association, Michigan Charter Boat Association, Dream Weaver Lure Co. and other tackle retailers from western Michigan. We as a group are asking to have other sport fishing groups join us in this letter to Michigan’s DNR fisheries people .

Checking in with MCBA captains along Lake Michigan’s shoreline, captains are in full support of MCBAs involvement in supporting “no more King Salmon stocking cuts”.
