Uninspected Passenger Vessel (UPV) Workshop

The USCG  would like to invite you to attend their upcoming Uninspected Passenger Vessel (UPV) workshop being held at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Building on Friday, March 22, 2019, between 8 AM and 12:30 PM. in Detroit.

U.S. Coast Guard Sector Detroit, working with Michigan Department of Natural Resources, is hosting a half-day workshop to provide regulatory information to charter vessel owners/operators. Attendees will become familiar with federal and state regulations, federal drug and alcohol testing program requirements, what to expect when boarded by law enforcement, U.S. Coast Guard merchant mariner credentialing processes, legal liability considerations when operating a vessel commercially, how to schedule a Coast Guard Auxiliary voluntary safety exam, how and who to report illegal charter vessel operations and much more! Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to network with other operators. The hope is this workshop will reduce the number of illegal charter vessel operations, which place the public at risk, especially when these vessels are operated by untrained/inexperienced mariners or without proper safety equipment. Eliminating illegal charter vessel operations saves lives, prevents injuries and preserves the financial interests of legal charter vessel operators.

The address for the FDA building is as follows:
300 River Place, Ste. 5900
Detroit, MI 48207

Please RSVP directly to Bartholomew, Jason U CIV Jason.U.Bartholomew@uscg.mil so that he will have an accurate number of attendees and so that they can register you for free parking at the FDA lot located adjacent to the FDA Building.

Coffee and donuts will be provided.  (see attached flyer)
